Our 'Landscape Design' service incorporates two of our missions: Design and Restore.
The ideal client would therefore have a fairly open design canvas and an enthusiasm to collaborate and conjure up something that'll meet long term food, lifestyle and aesthetic objectives. Said another way, we're looking for someone who can imagine their version of a home paradise and the path to achieve and maintain it. We encourage each client to summarise this in a two-part Vision Statement that encompasses their desires for the design and the relationship, particularly to management of it. Now its fairly easy to come up with something, but it's important it really represents what you want so your vision is clear and aligned with what's going to give you long-term, deep satisfaction. Moreover, it helps couples and multiple people establish commonalities and differences in their ideas and expectations from the very start. Examples of a Vision Statement include:
'I want a peaceful sanctuary with the sound of running water, birds foraging throughout an open layout of abundant native and exotic flowering shrubs. I want to be an observer of my garden, to spend most of my time in it sitting and enjoying it as my own little ecosystem where I can get to know the seasonal changes and animals that come and go.'
Or
'I want to grow 50% of our family's fruit and vegetables. Create a bountiful food forest where my kids can contribute with enjoyment and appreciate where food really comes from. I want to tend closely to aspects of my food forest but let others grow a bit wild as nature intends knowing everything will be fine if we went away for a month.'
Or
'I want a clean and simple design which includes a small kitchen herb garden, a large lawn for the kids and dog to run around on with a pergola to entertain family and friends. I'd like it to be as maintenance free as possible, under 1.5 hours a week.'
Or
'Out the back - I want to restore the waterways and riparian vegetation throughout my property to allow clean water to flow through the once native bushland again. Close to home - i want a fenced veggie garden with a chicken coup and small garden shed. I'll spend each morning with a coffee, soaking up the sun as I tend to my garden. I'll go down to the bushland every now and again for peace and curiosity of what is returning home.'
You can begin to see how the Vision Statement sets the design in motion and we can begin to identify the key elements and consider the inter-relationship of a layout.
From there it's just an open, trusting relationship between you, us and your version of paradise. This means both parties can be transparent and accountable to a price, capabilities, expectations and schedule.
So in summary, our ideal client has:
A clear vision of what they want to achieve from their design and the long-lasting experience and relationship with it.
They understand the management effort required during the establishment and maintenance phases.
They appreciate an open and genuine relationship with us as we collaborate to implement your vision of paradise.
Extra brownie points, street credit and where possible, price discounts for anyone who incorporates ecological restoration 😉 Moreover, you may be eligible for a grant to subsidise the cost. We can help landholders on the Sunshine Coast access the Landholder Environment Grant
If this sounds like it could be you and you're ready to have a chat, please get in contact. We look forward to working with you!
